3 Days. 400 Miles.

Over the weekend Valen Wyse, a 2X Oregon State Champion, was on a biking trip from Hermiston, Oregon to the Oregon Coast. Valen was brand new to cycling and was caught in some nasty weather on Friday evening. Valen found himself stranded at Safeway in the Washougal area and did not have a place to stay for the night. Valen put out a message to the Couchsurfing (https://www.couchsurfing.com/)  community hoping someone would be able to give him a place to rest for the night. Coach Vom Baur and his wife got the message and decided to host Valen without any knowledge that he was a wrestler or what he was doing in the area.

When Valen arrived at the Vom Baur’s Valen and Cory naturally began to talk about wrestling. Valen told the Vom Baurs about his wrestling career and his plans to ride to the Coast.

As the night went on Coach Cory Vom Baur decided that he would ride with Valen the rest of the way to the Oregon Coast. The two of them made the 100+ mile bike ride together and arrived in Astoria Saturday around 4:00 p.m.

Nice work Valen riding 400 miles in 3 days! Good luck next year!
